Hello from Idaho - Land of Potatoes

Although not on the menu tonight, its potatoe town we are in. Tomorrow's lunch will surely include some homemade french fries or chips.

We are all settling in better but "too much time together" and "close quarters" are starting to wear a little. Learning to have a sibling for Jordan is a challenge and for Allyson having someone her equal is new to her too!

The pups have been amazing... In the heat of the day, the kids are a sleep in the back or watching a movie and Einstein is on the hump part of the middle basking in the aircon while Zorro is hidden under the silver sun reflector that usually is in the window. They are getting better about the leashs issue and enjoying all the million places there are to pee. The best was giving them their first shower in the 5th Wheel. The outside shower was great. I sat in the camp chair in my swimsuit and they just stood there letting the cool water wash them. A few fellow RVs commented how perfect that was and how they had not thought of that for their pups.

E and Z have also made friends...there is a pair of tan poodles in the site next to us and a bischon "Bear" three slips down. A ton of other "toy" pups too!

It is nice to be out of the mountains if even just for a day. We have been doing nothing but climbing hills and running hot and hard on the trucks engine. I understand we are not done yet but the truely step pass of La Grande Oregon is behind us. Just not sure I want to come home if I have to drive that again... A home east of the rockies is sound really nice just about now.

We made our first full real dinner tonight.. the chicken legs cooked in the over while we swam then seared on thw grill while the pop-dough baked in the oven. Then we sat out in our camp chairs at the folding table and dinned as the sun set with our top of the line plastic Red White and Blue star plates.

Speaking of stars - One of the most beautiful nights last night looking out in Pendleton OR. The big dipper was right there on our door step. It was so close you wanted to reach out and touch it. Allyson shreeked when she saw it. It was a crystal clear night.

As for tomorrow, we have chosen to stop and play. We met a nice family from Canada (3 hrs East of Vancouver) who were going to the Water Park (supposedly the Wild Waves of Idaho) for the discounted summer afternoon prices. We are going to have a BBQ lunch together then go play. ME too! I promise no broken bones. Just some slipping and sliding. I could use the break too!

Then Wednesday we will continue our journey EAST! Wyoming is on the horizon... We have chosen to scrap the Atlanta show but still go to see Kevin and Geoff. We are foregoing Chicago too! I need some fun and time to work on school work. I rather get some summer relaxation and curriculum planning before returning in August than worry about the Homeschool Shows. I also believe that that Science Teacher and National Middle School conferences will be a major success for us. Which means I need to really boost the volume of files before them. This whole adventure is about quality time and Jordan and I so that is what we are going to focus on.

Well that is all for tonight... no major mis-haps (yeah), no oops or booms (yeah again), and a successful day of learning the world of RVing... Even managed to flush, empty and disconnect the blackwater and graywater tanks this morning WITHOUT any stinky mess nearly perfect the first time. To boot, setting up today went smoothly too. The learning curve is lesseing but is still there.
