It's been a crazy couple of weeks getting ready to hit the open road. There have been ups and downs, highs and lows, and stress breaks. But around 3 pm tomorrow (7/25) it will all be done. 2 bedrooms, 1 office, entrance/dining room, family room, kitchen, backyard and a full garage is a lot to unload in less than 5 weeks especially when you add in shopping for an affordable 5th Wheel and reliable used truck to fit our needs. But we did it. We still have some cleaning and a full day of wrapping up the house we have been in for over 4 years but all in all it has gone well, even in this economy. Actually I think the down turn of the ecomony and everyone's search for more affordable housewares, furniture, etc helped me with selling off "everything".
There is something to be said about the amount of "stuff" we accumulate over time and how much we spend on furnishing our homes. When it is all sold second hand, it amazing to see how we have not only treated our times over time but also how we value it. It is quite a liberating feeling "selling it all" and "packing up" to go explore. Knowing that what in the trailer (and a little 10 by 10 ft storage unit) is all we have is very cool. Knowing that home is where we park it is also very reassuring.
Having moved frequently throughout my life, I have always enjoyed the thrill and excitement of the adventure. This time is exciting and energizing but also a big life change. A good change but a very different change.
Though tomorrow will be a long final day and a short start to our long drive to Atlanta, Georgia it was a nice treat to be invited over to a neighbors for alittle goodbye drink and snacks with my neighbors on all sides. Expecting to see one couple, it was a great warm fuzzy to walk in and find 3 of my neighbors family. It was good to sit down and chat. The house warming travel basket from the Millers was a great to our new life.
So it is off to bed for a tired body and a full speed running mind. As we head out tomorrow, give us a warm thought for save travels and and exciting adventure. Keep in touch and see you on the web ... blog with us any time.
