So officially we are on day two.... and lets just say Day Two tried to compete with Day One!
DAY ONE - Sorry no posting - too tired to blog when we pulled in a the Rest Area a few miles west of The Dalles, Oregon.... Included a blown rear tirer, dead battery, service engine soon light and a very late start out of the gate... but I did make up time... with two sugar crashed sleeping teens and two exhausted pups asleep in the back, I made it from Auburn Wa to the rest area just a few miles shy of The Dalles (some 236 miles mostly of mountain driving)... I had hoped to make Pendleton but the additional 127 mountain miles was just too much.
DAY TWO - instead competed with a start of crunching the side of the 5th wheel on a bar pulling into the gas station (there was the first ding - at least it was only a little outside storage bin) and needing "orange" engine fluid (Go Clemson Tigers - I guess our RV's blood also runth orange! LOL) and breakfast at Denny's with 2 pups whinning in the truck. (They got eggs and bacon bits - funny thing was of all the things we "forgot" for the trip... guess what - Dog Food!) Engine service and oil change too!
Plus we discovered that we were missing a fuse for the oven to light... chicken leggs are for dinner tomorrow night. And a few other "hic-cups..." along the day. Made it one of those days that you just want to "quit" and "hide"... and sleep depervation / physical exhausten added to the day's challenges...
I have to be thankful though... despite all the little hic-cups (including things gas costing us more due to mountain driving) the are still a bunch of positives....
1) The pups and kids are doing great... No fights, no bickering and such...
2) J is learning and willing to try to help
3) A $12 NEW "spare" but real full tire - low Walmart and kind guys..
4) Unpacking another 3 laundry baskets and 1 small box
5) My Favorite - Hitch the truck to 5th wheel PERFECT the FIRST TIME! YEAH!!!
So we are going to head more East tomorrow. We are in search of POTATOES.... Idaho is calling... My eyes are tired - barely staying open (pardon typos) and I am going to SLEEP... ina real bed for a real night....
What for more news tomorrow.. Nic ad J
